Join Theatre at UBC’s outstanding tradition of finely crafted ensemble work in Tom Stoppard’s play Arcadia. UBC graduate and Shaw Festival director Dennis Garnhum guides us through Stoppard’s engrossing play, which takes us back and forth between two centuries. A Derbyshire country house is about to undergo some landscaping changes in the early 1800’s. As it turns out, more than idyll gardening has taken place. A centuries’ old scandal is uncovered involving Lord Byron and the one thing which always stands the test of time and the fashion of the day – sex. Stoppard’s play cleverly explores the affects of time on the truth while looking at classical and romantic ideals. Surely to be a witty and amusing evening, Arcadia is not to be missed!

Proceeds from the opening night performance on Thursday, March 10, will be donated to Performing Arts Lodge (PAL) Vancouver in memory of Dr. John Brockington and Joan Wellwood, two recently departed members of the Theatre at UBC family.
